Calèche real bride Bethany and husband Dan were married at Chateau Apollo in the Adelaide CBD. The 80 year old building’s rustic interior was the perfect backdrop for the couples simple and elegant decor. Snapped on the streets of Adelaide, the happy couple spent their time together laughing and having fun. Scroll to the snaps below to see Bethany’s fun and modern two-piece wedding outfit – a sparkly mini dress and full tiered skirt, perfect for whipping off when its time to hit the dancefloor!
Lets start at the beginning, when and how did you and your partner meet?
Dan and I met while working at a catering company part time while we were studying at uni.
Tell us about the proposal ..
Dan had thought of absolutely everything! We were spending a weekend in McLaren Vale under the guise of Dan’s birthday but on our way up we stopped for a wine tasting and a picnic at the Paxton Cellar Door. We spent hours there laughing, eating and drinking until finally Dan got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Through many happy tears I said yes! We had a beautiful dinner at Star of Greece that night and then Dan had organised a group of our friends to stay with us over the weekend. He had also arranged a lunch and wine tour with our families and friends over the weekend too!
The Dress! Tell us about your experience finding the dress .. How did you decide on the one?
I LOVED dress shopping but I am still surprised with the dress I ended up choosing! I had always imagined myself in a very simple, slip-like gown but I didn’t feel very excited when I tried that type of style on. When I saw the Twiggy mini dress hanging up in store I knew I just had to try it on and I loved how fun it was! I ended up making some changes to the neckline and added a pleated tulle overskirt on top for the ceremony. I love how the dress turned out!
Accessories! How did you accessorise your outfit?
I went for simple drop pearl earrings, pearl hair pins and an initial bracelet from Class A Jewellers that was gifted to me by my parents.
Can you give us some details on your wedding location?
We were married at Chateau Apollo in the Adelaide CBD. We loved that the location was central and easy to get to for our guests, the later liquor licensing was a great bonus too!
What was your favourite moment of the day?
Surprisingly, my favourite moment was when we ducked off for our sunset photos. Dan and I were both feeling so anxious about having a camera in front of us all day and posing for photos but our photographer, the incredible Dan Evans, was so much fun to hang out with! Dan and I both spent the whole time laughing!
Hens Day! If you had one, please tell us all about it!
My incredible bridesmaids organised the most amazing day. We had a long lunch at Bar Lune, followed by a night of games and karaoke at Fine and Fettle.
Lastly, is there any advice or words of wisdom you have for future brides?
My advice would be to plan times into the wedding day to step back, breathe and take it all in. Dan and I were conscious not to get swept up in the day and had planned ‘breaks’ throughout the day where we could soak it all in either by ourselves (sunset photos were amazing for this) or with our bridal party. I would also say to fill your day with things you feel comfortable with, not what other people expect from you or what is traditional. Dan and I didn’t do a first dance because we knew this would make us feel uncomfortable, or an exit, as we wanted to stay and soak up every last bit of our day and I am so so glad we did!
