MADDY & JASON

Calèche real bride Maddy and partner Jason were married in the chapel of St Peters College, with a beautiful reception at lot 100. Before heading to the reception Maddy and Jason had their wedding portraits taken amongst the soft greenery of the Botanical Gardens. Maddy and Jasons wedding photos taken by the talented Sebastian Paynter are the perfect balance of soft, whimsical and romantic. Check them out below!

Lets start at the beginning, when and how did you and your partner meet?

We first met at a games night where a mutual friend had brought him along. As soon as I got home, I texted my friend asking where he had been hiding him! He joined the friend group and a couple of months after asked me out on our first date. He tried to take me somewhere that was closed, and we ended up walking around for hours looking for an open bar on a Tuesday night, ending up at the Pink Moon Saloon where we talked until close. It was magical.

Tell us about the proposal ..

In 2019 I went to study in Europe for two months, before meeting up with Jason to travel (back when you could do that). One of our stops was Santorini, where we had an incredible airbnb overlooking the caldera. One night while getting ready for dinner I turned around and he was on one knee and proposed! It was private and beautiful and very us.

The Dress! Tell us about your experience finding the dress .. How did you decide on the one?

I had gone into shopping looking for something form fitting – but when I tried on a couple of A line styles from Caleche, I realised they had the drama and ‘specialness’ I really wanted. I tried on my dress three times, in front of my aunty, my mum and my step-mum, before deciding it was the one. I loved the vintage feel to the dress and the creamy colour of the tulle. During the fittings the ladies at Caleche helped me to customise the sleeves. I kept changing my mind but eventually ended up with the sweetest little detachable puffs on my shoulders – they balanced my figure and added something very special and unique.

Accessories! How did you accessorise your outfit?

I had so much trouble making a final decision on accessories! In the end my mum suggested I borrow some of my late grandmother’s jewellery from India – stunning gold and seed pearl earrings and a matching necklace for the reception. I put them on with my dress on the day and knew they were perfect. My bag I spotted at Caleche and loved immediately, and I had picked out some Jimmy Choo pumps a year prior. – they were surprisingly comfortable on the day!

Can you give us some details on your wedding location?

We had out ceremony at the chapel at Jason’s high school – St Peters College. The grounds are so beautiful, they always remind me of Hogwarts. We had the reception at Lot 100 in the Adelaide Hills which was amazing, no one could get over the fantastic food and service.

What was your favourite moment of the day?

A cliché, but it was when walking down the aisle when I looked up and saw Jason’s face. I was so, so nervous I could barely think when I was walking in. As soon as I saw him, I remembered why I was there and that I wasn’t alone in this! I was able to relax and have a ball the rest of the day.

Hens Day! If you had one, please tell us all about it!

My gorgeous bridesmaids organised a decadent lunch at ITL Italian Kitchen followed by drinks at Sol with my female friends and family. Afterwards a small group of us went back to my house and had a very fun night playing games and dancing around the kitchen (immortalised with some scandalous polaroids).

Lastly, is there any advice or words of wisdom you have for future brides?

It’s the same advice everyone has – try to take some time to take it all in on your day! It goes so, so fast and will feel like a blur. Secondly, do what feels right to you, not what everyone else expects of you. In the end everyone will see that the day reflected you as a couple, and you won’t have any regrets. And finally, choose well for your bridal party – people who support and love you! Our incredible bridesmaids and groomsmen really made our day perfect.
