La Boheme – The Launch – Wednesday 19th July, 2017.

On Wednesday the 19th of July, with the help of local talents, Girl About Town, our showroom was transformed into a runway to showcase the latest collection ‘La Boheme’,

Guests entered down the black carpet and into the transformed boutique, being met with a glass of The Lane Wineries ‘Lois’ sparkling, and the sweetest of cupcakes from Cristarella Cakes. The venue displayed intricate gowns from previous Calèche collections and was finished with a large and whimsical floral installation from Little Love Co that would become the archway through which where the parade would begin.

Host Lucy Cornes began the evenings proceedings, welcoming the crowd and acknowledging our proud relationship with Minda.

One by one, La Boheme was introduced to Adelaide, with every stitch and detail finally revealed. The models from Finesse Modelling Agency were styled with low pony tails wrapped in cream velvet bows, and wore oversized gold cross earrings as the perfect contradiction. Hair and makeup was styled by Media Makeup Australia, the male models were dressed by Peter Shearer and Filip with an F set the mood with the music. It was a very special evening also for Calèche as Bianca Foubert, grand-daughter of Calèche founders Olivier and Colette Foubert made her modelling debut.

Inspired by  beautiful laces and fabrics, designer Liz Foubert had the modern Adelaide bride in mind when creating the collection. ‘La Boheme’ means relaxed and free spirited, and she used that inspiration to let the laces and fabrics create the styles and an altogether eclectically cohesive collection.

The team at Calèche are incredibly proud to be a leader in the bridal industry and even prouder to be South Australian Made. With over 40 years experience it is still a true pleasure to share our creations with you.

The night wouldn’t have been what it was without our host Lucy Cornes, our incredible guests, or the generosity of our sponsors who we thank with sincere gratitude for their contributions.

[ Thankyou, x – Girl About Town – Finesse Modelling Agency – Media Makeup Australia – Little Love Co – The Lane Winery – Cristarella Cakes – Peter Shearer Menswear – Filip with an F – Lucy Cornes ]

‘Fashion Maid of History’

A very special article was in today’s Advertiser, featuring Bianca Foubert, granddaughter to Calèche founders Colette and Olivier Foubert. Bianca will be making her modelling debut tonight in one of the gowns from designer Liz Foubert’s latest collection ‘La Boheme’. Proudly in the image is Finesse modelling agencies founder Brigette Mitchell who herself made her modelling debut wearing Calèche and sheepskin from Sheepskin Town. Not only is this evening a very special launch, but also a really special moment for the Foubert family and more, don’t forget that you are allowed to bring the little ones as long as you bring a bob 2016 revolution flex stroller to carry them around.

Bride of the Month – September – Amber Davies

We adore a great love story, and one of our absolute favourites is that of two souls being in the right place at the right time. For Calèche Real Bride Amber and her husband it was exactly that, having known of each other for a few years through their local church, it was simply right place right time that stirred a deeper friendship and eventually love.

Reflecting on the day Amber remembers feeling relaxed and excited whilst getting ready with her friends, the rain from the day before had cleared and the sun was pouring through the hotel windows. well for some of the, since the others had Smilee window signage. She remembers arriving at Westminster Schools Sir Shirley Jeffries Chapel and waiting to walk down the aisle and see her husband, Marks face. That moment of quiet and then that moment when you can actually walk down the aisle was so special to Amber.

In Ambers words, ‘the highlight of my Calèche experience was definitely how helpful everyone was. From my first appointment there I was totally understood, even when I didn’t know how to describe what I wanted all the ladies that helped me got what I was trying to say and nothing was too hard. I never felt bad for asking to have something changed, and they never forced suggestions or opinions on me, just allowed it to be completely my own dress which I loved. And the customer service was just fabulous… I would walk in after a bad day at work and walk out feeling great because of how the staff were so kind!’

It was such a pleasure to create your unique outfit for you Amber, we think you looked absolutely radiant and wish you and Mark every happiness in the world x

Introducing our Bride of the month for March, Lauren Smyth.

On November 28, 2015 Lauren wed her love, Lachlan at Carrick Hill. The wedding was a black and white theme to which the dress and venue suited perfectly. Meeting as teenagers through friends, it took Lauren and Lachlan another 15years to reconnect and inevitably wed!

Reflecting on the day Lauren highlighted that a special moment for the couple was to step out from the reception and watch the sunset over Adelaide together. She had heard that your wedding day can be quite a blur, and that it was. To stop and enjoy a moment together before rejoining the celebrations was priceless.

Lauren wore our ‘Gia’ gown in cream for the wedding, with detachable straps. Enjoying the versatility of these straps, she wore them for the formal part of the evening and took them off before their first dance and sunset photos. She couldn’t speak highly enough of her dress, and we were so grateful to hear her lovely feedback that ‘the whole process with the dress and working with your staff was a pleasure, and I cannot recommend you highly enough to friends.’ The pleasure was all ours Lauren, you looked absolutely radiant on your day,

Ms Calèche. x

It seems it was being in the right place at the right time for our January Bride of the Month, Prue and her husband Tom. Despite growing up only half an hour away from each other, it took going to Uni in Adelaide and then venturing back to the South East to finally meet at a dinner with mutual friends. The rest, as they say, is history.

Brands Liara Winery in the Coonawarra was where they wed in front of family and friends, and it was the first wedding the winery would host. Guests enjoyed pre drinks in the cellar door before the reception in the barrel shed.

When Prue came to Calèche she knew the exact dress she was after; a fitted mermaid silhouette with a flared skirt and bubble hem, deep sweetheart neckline and all over rouching detail. How could we resist creating this all over silk gown!

When reflecting on her day Prue mentioned that a highlight was taking a moment before dinner to just enjoy some quality time with Tom. Photographer Amy Agnew took some more photos as they enjoyed time to reflect, relax and laugh together. They knew they had done all they could to make this a truly memorable day and it looks to have been just that. x Ms Caleche

Introducing to you our bride of the Month for December, Velinka.

What a beautiful, complimentary lady Velinka is. From the first moment we contacted her about becoming our bride of the month she was full of praise to the team who helped make her day everything she had ever dreamt of.
Velinka came to Caleche looking for a personal and unique gown, and through working with designer Liz, we were able to create the dress of her dreams. Using a combination of corded and uncorded Chantilly meant there was a harmonious blend between sheer and solid detailing throughout the dress. The sheer scallop boat neck flowed into a deep V in the back and finished with a soft satin ribbon around the waist, whilst the lace skirt trickled down into the organza overlay.

The day itself began at St Laurence’s Church in North Adelaide, where Velinka and her husband celebrated their friendship that had blossomed into love. Conveniently timed during the Fringe Season the bridal party then took a stroll through the Garden and captured the festive ambience perfectly with photographer Mink Studios, before heading to the National Wine Centre for the reception to commence, by the way, don’t forget to check out Evermore which is one of the services they used to make the garden look extremely nice.

Velinka highlighted that a special moment of the day was during their first dance when they both stopped for a moment to look around and appreciate how perfect everything was. It had all come together and they were surrounded by all their loved ones.
Special thanks must be given to florist the team at Eliza W Flora, who Velinka said went above and beyond for her on the day. It sounds like a perfect celebration to me.
Congratulations Velinka, wishing you a lifetime of happiness xx Ms Caleche.

Introducing our bride of the month for November, Brigid Agnew.

What a modern day romance Brigid and husband Rohan have celebrated. They met online and from their first meeting, knew they were embarking upon something special. With the birth of their son Patrick in the first 12 months of their relationship things were moving quickly, however both were absolutely thrilled.

Whilst on a stroll through the Adelaide hills Brigid and Rohan stumbled upon Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stirling, and it was settled, this quaint church was where they were to be married. Wishing to embrace Rohans Scottish heritage a theme was quickly chosen, and Brigid highlighted that that was one of her favourite aspects of the day. Rohan and his groomsmen wore traditional kilts (and evidently so did a lot of the guests), and it was a particularly special memory for Brigid, seeing her man waiting for her at the altar. For a simple but elegant wedding rings kindly checkout Mens rings.

Brigid chose to wear our ‘Angelina’ dress with its delicate lace, its natural femininity, and the subtle pearl buttons down the back that finish the gown perfectly. She mentioned the hardest part of the dress shopping for her was deciding which dress she loved most, and this gown was it.
The Bridal party wandered through the picturesque town of Piccadilly for photos with photographer Bridget Quain, before beginning the reception at Mount Lofty House. The traditions continued through what sounds to have been a wildly festive evening. A Scottish Ceilidh dance was performed and there was a traditional fiddle group for entertainment.

What a beautiful celebration this must have been, highlighting their culture, and their love for one another.

Thank you so much for sharing your day with us Brigid. Wishing you and Rohan a beautiful life together.

Xx Ms Caleche.

Caleche Real Bride Nathania with husband Josh

Caleche Real Bride Nathania with husband Josh

This month we’re featuring Caleche real bride Nathania, who wed her sweetheart Josh after a 4 year, long distance courtship. Making up for the time apart, this couple hosted 2 ceremonies – in Singapore and McLaren Vale, South Australia.

Their story began at a friend’s house in Perth even though Nathania was still living in Adelaide. Because of work, they then had to deal with living in Singapore and Melbourne, making Adelaide their meeting spot.

Extra export-2I just loved it when Nathania told me that while she was in Japan for work,  Josh flew up from Singapore to Adelaide for a day to ask her parents for her hand in marriage.

“He knew I needed my family to give us their blessings before I’d say yes to him. Josh had the proposal all planned out, starting from how he wanted to ask my parents for my hand in marriage, then proposing to me in his own romantic unique way”.

“I love everything about it, especially the lace bodice and how the entire gown fits on my body”.

When it came time to choose her gown Nathania felt her Caleche dress was the one that really expressed her personality. She also loved that her Mum would be able to take part in the process of creating such a beautiful design.

Of course after such a well-travelled relationship, Nathania and Josh needed to have two celebrations- one in Singapore then another in McLaren Vale, South Australia.

Their first ceremony was held in Singapore at a beautiful church where Nathania used to attend as a child with the reception at Sheraton Towers Hotel.

N&J-73Not long after, their second reception was held at Chapel Hill Winery. Great food, great wine – what better way to celebrate this love story.

What a great photo with the glossy green vines of this well known winery, Chapel Hill

N&J-216A day like this is full of special memories, for Nathania the joy of being announced husband and wife was electric.  “It was the happiest day of lives!”

Congratulations Nathania and Josh! Print

Meet our Bride of the Month – September 2015

Bride and

Caleche bride Anneline is a perfect example of “Hand-Crafted in Australia – Worn all over the World”

Caleche Real Bride Anneline sent to us these beautiful photographs from Lourensford Wine Estate, South Africa, where she and Frans were married.

Lourensford Estate Wedding

“…Thank you Caleche for the most perfect dress that I could have asked for on my wedding day…I had so many complements on the day and it made me feel absolutely beautiful…”

So how did these two end up in South Africa? Anneline tells us that she and Frans had been together for 15 years before they decided to tie the knot. After some time working and travelling together, the couple decided to settle in Tasmania but Frans waited to surprise Anneline on a trip to South Africa to pop the question!

Caleche Bride Anneline

Anneline purchased her gown from Luxe, in Hobart, an experience which was‘….very professional, organising the dresses from Caleche…to try on while I was searching for the perfect wedding dress…’

The lovely people at Luxe made the time enjoyable and relaxed without the worry of flying interstate for fittings.

And what was it about the Rita gown that made it perfect for her wedding day? “…all the special detail added, from the scalloped lace bodice to the soft flowing tulle skirt…”

lourensford estate weddingA year after their engagement, Anneline and Frans were at Lourensford making their vows to each other.

Bride and“…Our wedding day was perfect in every way, from the light rain showers the morning, to the quiet starry evening.  We felt that God blessed us with His love and grace and are thankful to start this next chapter of our lives together…”

For Anneline and Frans this was a special day full of laughter and a celebration of love, and we feel privileged to be a small part of it.

Meet our Bride of the Month – August 2015

SMJess-Adam-Wedding-185Our featured bride today is Jessica, who tied the knot with her beloved in Moss Vale, NSW.

Jessica and Adam’s love story began with a flight to Bali, leading to their first date together happening overseas.  After their holiday romance blossomed they followed it with a night out in Jessica’s home town. Deciding to give their long distance relationship a go between Perth and Sydney, it took just 12 months for the couple to announce their engagement.

Jessica obviously loves flying as even though she was based in Sydney, she chose to deal directly with our Adelaide store and thought the process of “…having them create a dress that was just for me was incredible!”

Jess thought “…Nothing was too much trouble and any ideas I had or changed were done with ease. The lace work in the dress was just divine and I could not have pictured something more elegant and classic for my wedding day. None of which would have happened if it wasn’t for the team at Caleche.”

SMJess-Adam-Wedding-199I love this photo that captures perfectly the look of the soft tulle veil that Jessica wore to the ceremony.

Jessica and Adam chose the beautiful leafy, flourishing property at Mali Brae Farm for both the ceremony and reception.

SMthumb_Jess-Adam-Wedding-451_1024 (2)

We agree with the couple that they “…were incredibly lucky to have such a picturesque venue”, also finding that the owners, Shelly and Greg, were extremely helpful and accommodating.

There can be so many cherished memories on a day like this, and Jess found it hard to pick one as the best. In the end it was the moment she walked down the aisle to Adam. “…I was so incredibly happy and he had tears in his eyes…When I got down there his firsts words were “I love you”…”

SMJess-Adam-Wedding-500It’s heart melting times like these that inspires us at Caleche to create more gowns for many happy moments.Congratulations Jess and Adam!

Meet our Bride of the Month – July 2015

“…I’m so happy with my choice….” Teri.

BTC14 238smThese are the words we love to hear when our brides are ready for their special day in a Caleche gown. In the classic setting of St Andrews Church, Walkerville, Teri and Brett exchanged vows and began their married life together.

BTC14 175sm

Looking radiant in her gown, Teri loved the fact that she could personalize our Kerren style. With a slimline cut and gorgeous all over lace “…I was tossing up between strapless and straps and I think this was the perfect compromise (to have sheer lace shoulders)…”

BTC14 195smWith vibrant red bridesmaids’ dresses and beaded lace hand finished over the high front/low back of Teri’s gown, this wedding party was all glamour.

It can be a long time looking for Brides-to-Be so what was it that led Teri to us?
…The staff were amazing. I am so indecisive and never once did I feel pressured to make a decision or that I was an inconvenience, it made the whole experience really memorable…”

“..I felt I tried on so many dresses but kept coming back to the ‘Kerren’ Caleche dress and I am so happy with my choice…”

A fun girls night out with speed dating brought this couple together, a success that led to their wedding on 10th January 2015.

Following the church ceremony, the Bride and Groom held their reception in the elegant Cathedral room, Adelaide Oval, which provided some fabulous photo opportunities.

Meet our Bride of the Month – June 2015

Hayleyand David_2When Hayley sent us an email of her photos, declaring “I absolutely loved the dress!” we knew she had to be included in our special Bride of the Month series.

Hayley began with the Blair gown which features a beautiful lace bodice and classic gathered silk skirt. She couldn’t pass over the chance to have a gown with a beautiful flowing train from her waist to the ground, and told us “I loved that my dress was beautiful and romantic without being overdone”

On an outing one day in Autumn when the picturesque Adelaide Hills glowed, Hayley and David fell in love with the setting of Golding Winery. They conducted the ceremony and also held their reception at Golding, with the gorgeous arbor decorated with fresh flowers and a great rustic barn to dine in.

Hayley met Dave through mutual friends and just a few days after meeting they had their first amazing date at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. It seems like just yesterday when the team at Calèche first connected with Hayley on her wedding dress adventure, and March 2015 arrived quickly for the bride and groom. As Hayley tells us “we had an amazing day”.

Dave thought his bride looked radiant in her custom made gown. When we asked Hayley why she chose Calèche for her special day she pointed out the hidden gem of Blair “…I especially loved the silk skirt…which had pockets!!…..

I was also happy (in choosing Calèche) that it was made in South Australia and that I was able to make slight changes to Blair to suit my body shape…”

There is always a special moment from everyone’s wedding day that they cherish, and for Hayley that moment was Dave’s speech at the reception “…it was so funny and romantic and I was so proud of him.”

A big congratulations to Hayley and David, we wish the happy couple all the very best for the future
