EMILY & MICHAEL

Initially postponed in 2020 due to COVID, Calèche real bride Emily and partner Michael’s wedding took place on a beautiful sunny day at Glen Ewin Estate in the Adelaide Hills. Scroll down to read the details and see the beautiful images of this fairytale wedding.

Lets start at the beginning, when and how did you and your partner meet?

We met at university, while both studying to be teachers.

Tell us about the proposal ..

It was in Central Park in New York City. We went on a horse and carriage ride as it was a few days before Christmas and it was my ‘christmas’ present from Michael. I was as sick as a dog, coming off the back end of a flu that had lasted 2 weeks haha after he proposed I almost begged to take me somewhere to get warm again as it was less than 9 degrees!

The Dress! Tell us about your experience finding the dress .. How did you decide on the one?

We were actually never going to Calèche, but one of my other appointments went south and we ended up being able to slot Calèche in and here we are! Calèche has amazing options for brides to be, I was able to fully customise my dress and the amazing team was able to bring my vision to life. It was everything I hoped for and more.

Emily is wearing a custom gown based on the shape of our Megan gown.

Can you give us some details on your wedding location?

It was at Glen Ewin estate. It was initially postponed for a whole year due to Covid. The original wedding date in May 2020 was thunderstorms… and then the year later it was 26 degrees and absolutely beautiful. We got very lucky and it was like the weather gods were looking down on us haha!

What was your favourite moment of the day?

My favourite moment of the day is hard to choose… the morning before leaving, the ceremony, the taking of the photos, the reception, the dancing, everything! It was a perfect day and I can’t say enough how lucky we were. We were blessed with the perfect day, not a single thing went wrong.

Hens Day! If you had one, please tell us all about it!

My hens day was at my sisters house and we got to make clay boobie pots! It was so much fun. We got all our supplies through @doesmynippleoffendyou (Instagram). We had a cocktail bar and some fun games to follow. Small group of the closest ladies to me and lots of yummy food. It was so fun!

Lastly, is there any advice or words of wisdom you have for future brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. There are a million things that can go ‘wrong’ and will go wrong. At the end of the day make sure you keep everything in perspective. Enjoy every moment and take a minute to take it all in because before you know it, it’s all over and done with. I noticed because I let a lot go it made my day so much more enjoyable and breezier. Surround yourself with a good bridal party too.
