Calèche real bride Siobhan and partner Lee tied the knot with an intimate cocktail style celebration in Collingwood, VIC. The whirlwind of COVID in 2020 left family and friends particularly grateful to be able to join Siobhan and Lee for a night of dancing and fun. Continue reading for all the details Siobhan gave us on this modern and chic Melbourne wedding.
Lets start at the beginning, when and how did you and your partner meet?
Lee and I met in our home town where we grew up. It wasn’t until many years later we got together both living in Melbourne.
Tell us about the proposal ..
We were on a holiday in Thailand- Koh Yao which is a stunning Island we highly recommend visiting on your travels whilst there. The proposal happened on one of the last nights on the holiday. There was a private dinner booked on the beach, where Lee missed his chance as it was cancelled due to a cyclone! We were moved to the restaurant and on the way back to our villa he finally got the opportunity.
The Dress! Tell us about your experience finding the dress .. How did you decide on the one?
I definitely had sequins in mind. Visiting Calèche I found the perfect fabric that had a little pearl weaved in with the sequins and being particular with fabrics I loved it straight away! From there we designed the dress from a top and skirt combination that I loved together.
Siobhan’s dress was inspired by our Riga beaded bodysuit and Cara skirt.
Can you give us some details on your wedding location?
We had the ceremony and reception at Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood, Melbourne. We had been to a wedding there before and fell in love with it. City, industrial, vintage and modern all in one which was the perfect setting for us. We wanted a cocktail style and a big party vibe which this venue gave us.
What was your favourite moment of the day?
There are many, it’s so hard to choose. Definitely being on the dance floor most of the night! To have our guests at our wedding with the year everyone had had, there was so much excitement to have everyone together, lots of dancing and and genuine happiness to be there. Getting ready with my mum and three bridesmaids was fun and it wasn’t stressful. Which is actually interesting as the night before the wedding we were evacuated twice from our building, as the fire alarms were going off. We thought we were in for an early night but that wasn’t the case. Followed by one of our important people we had booked (I’d rather not say who) seeing the footage on social media and realised they had the wrong date – there were a few changes to be honest! It all worked out and we laugh about it now. With all that had happened with wedding cancellations, just as long as we got there we were ok!
Hens Day! If you had one, please tell us all about it!
Well, there were many booked, I made it to the first one in Byron Bay along with 4 others. There were originally 24 of us going! This was the exact time in March 2020 Covid hit us. I had still decided to go and luckily didn’t get caught up in any of the commotion. There were a few get togethers in Melbourne and Mildura. So I actually ended up with three Hen’s parties!
Lastly, is there any advice or words of wisdom you have for future brides?
Take a moment to take it all in on the night. It does go fast so have fun!
