Lets start at the beginning, when and how did you and your partner meet?
We met nearly 8 years ago at Limbo nightclub in the city. We had plenty of mutual friends but had never met before and struck up conversation.
Tell us about the proposal ..
It was a Sunday morning, Marko had messaged me and said to come over and we would take the dog for a walk. I got dressed in my gym gear and he messaged me as I was leaving the house that he was going for a shower and the front door was unlocked. I parked my car in the drive way and walked through the front door and there he was on one knee with a ring in his hand. The entire hallway was covered in rose petals and he had hung up on string photos from the past 6 years.
The Dress! Tell us about your experience finding the dress .. How did you decide on the one?
Initially I had gone around Adelaide trying on dresses in different bridal shops but felt like I wanted something a bit more tailored and individual. I visited Caleche in September 2018 and explained that I wanted a simple skirt with a detailed bodice and was shown a stunning crepe material skirt paired with a sheer bodice covered in 3D lace and beading, I tried it on and knew that this would be the perfect style.
I had at first chose a long cathedral length veil, but over time thought that I would prefer to add a bit more drama to my dress and also create 2 different looks from one. I made a follow up appointment in February of this year to see Liz and explained that I wanted an off the shoulder cape attached to the bodice of the dress that would then be completely detachable for night. Liz knew exactly what I meant and brought in layers and layers of organza which she pinned to the dress and from there the vision was born. Over the year the experience with Caleche has been so easy, Liz understood my vision from the beginning and I left the rest in her hands.
Can you give us some details on your wedding location?
Ceremony: St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Grote Street Adelaide
Reception: The Marquee at Sunnybrae Estate, Regency Park Adelaide
What was your favourite moment of the day?
The entire day was perfect from start to finish, I wouldn’t change a thing- but my favourite moment was our entrance at the venue. We had a mix of Greek and Croatian music and the entire hall got up to dance with us after we had walked in. It got the party started from the moment the reception started!
Hens Day! If you had one, please tell us all about it!
I had my Bridal Shower at Golding Winery with my closest family and friends, we had a long lunch with plenty of wine and food.
Hens Night was organised by my bridesmaids and was held at Marion’s Place in Hindmarsh with lots of drinks, grazing tables and dancing.
Lastly, is there any advice or words of wisdom you have for future brides?
Firstly, go with your gut. If there is something you envision for your day whether it be the dress, the décor or the order of event just do it, don’t second guess your decisions. Secondly, soak it all in- take a moment to absorb the atmosphere, everyone in attendance is so happy to be there and to celebrate you, it’s a lovely feeling.
